To be a world power, a country needs:Some sort of resource that it can use to bargain with
A culture that promotes hard work and community
No large countries beating on it
A stable government committed to long-term goals, specifically economic ones
People that understand that change for the better may take generations
No outside countries telling it how to do things
Produce remarkably intelligent citizens then motivate them to stay in the country to start multinational corporations that produce products people worldwide are willing to purchase
Have a stable source of food, water, land for shelter, energy, without depending on these from any other country by way of import or loan
Insert self into global affairs, dedicating large troop numbers to the UN and participating in peace keeping missions
If a country does these, it will become a super power. It takes time, effort, resources, a compatible culture, and chance.

They need to control commerce and trade.It used to be about location. Controlling the right ports. Now the internet changes everything. The nation with the most entertaining propaganda controls the world.

I'm Dominican too. For a small country to become a world power it needs 2 things. First a large population and nuclear weapons. A strong economy helps too. The DR will never be a world power and that's OK because eventually it will become part of the Union of Latin American and Caribbean States.
